421 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus, with the number of positive cases rising to 11,673. This is after 3,895 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with cumulative samples tested now at 229,390. 409 of the cases are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners. 8 more people have died bringing the fatalities to 217.
However, 570 patients have recovered, registering the highest number of recoveries in a day. Speaking in Nakuru, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 58 have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, while 512 have recovered under the home based care programme.
The Health CS said the trend of infections was expected with the lifting of cessation of movement and reopening of the economy. He said Counties should be lauded for their preparation, adding that at least each County is better prepared to handle Covid-19 cases more than the country was, as a whole, some months ago, “We should appreciate what the Counties have done.”
