Kenya has recorded 580 new Covid-19 cases with the total number of positive cases rising to 29,334. The cases were from 5,458 samples, with the cumulative tests so far at 381,317. 530 of the new cases are Kenyans while 50 are foreigners, with the youngest 1 year old and the oldest 92 years.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said the fatalities have reached 465 after 5 more patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours. Kenya’s fatality rate is now at 1.6%. However, there have been 198 recoveries, with the total now at 15,298. 119 recovered from the Home Based Plan and 79 from different health centres.
Nairobi County has 375 cases, Kiambu County has 53 cases, Machakos County has 23 cases, Busia has 17 cases. Mombasa has 15 cases, Nakuru County has 14 cases, Kisumu County has 12 cases, Lamu County has 10 cases, Nyeri County has 7 cases, Laikipia County has 3 cases. Baringo, Kisii, Turkana and Vihiga Counties have 2 cases each. Garissa, Bungoma, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Siaya and Trans Nzoia have 1 case each.
