72 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Kenya, out of 2892 tested samples. This now brings the total number of cases to 2093. Speaking to the press at Afya House on Tuesday, Health CAS Rashid Aman said 17 more patients have recovered, the number of recoveries now at 499 and 2 people have died in the last 24 hours, fatalities now at 71.
Nairobi leads in the number of new cases at 39-Kibra 16, Embakasi South 8, Ruaraka 5, Westlands 5, Lang’ata 2, Embakasi West, Starehe and Dagoretti North 1 each. Busia County registered 13 cases, while Mombasa has 8 cases. Kajiado County has 4, 3 at the Namanga border post and 1 in Kitengela. Migori has 3 cases, Kiambu 2, Garissa 2 and Kisumu 1 case from Kisumu Central.
Health CAS Aman once again urged truck drivers to adhere to the laid down protocols to help ease congestion at the border points, with traffic being experienced at the Kenya-Uganda border. He said drivers have to take Covid-19 tests 48 hours before departing points of origin, and once they have tested negative they are handed a certificate and allowed to depart. He said it’s important that the rules are enforced by the drivers.
