The number of new Covid-19 infections continues to rise, after 309 people tested positive in a day. Speaking on Sunday, Health CAS Rashid Aman said the total number of cases now stands at 7,886, as the case load quickly nears the 8,000 mark. 4,288 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with the cumulative samples tested so far at 189,263. 51 patients have recovered, as the total recoveries reach 2,287 while 1 person has died today. All the new positive cases are Kenyans except 1, 217 are males and 92 are females.
Nairobi County has the highest number of cumulative cases and new cases, with 193, Kajiado County has 22, Kiambu County has 20, Mombasa County has 18, Makueni has 17, Busia County has 11, Machakos has 9, Nakuru has 8, Nandi has 3, Turkana has 3, Narok County has 2, Nyandarua has 1 case, Kakamega County has 1 and Kilifi County has 1.
As of Sunday, the cases in the Counties of the former Western province had surpassed 450. Busia County led with 479 cases, Bungoma County had 6 cases, Kakamega County 5 cases, Vihiga 2 cases and Trans Nzoia 3 cases.
