Kenya has recorded 22 more Covid-19 cases out of 1,108 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 1,214. Health CAS Rashid Aman said 1 more person in Nairobi, bringing the number of fatalities to 51, while 3 more have recovered and have been discharged with the number of recoveries at 383. 59,260 cumulative samples have been tested so far.
10 of the new cases are in Nairobi-Mathare 2, Kibra 2, Makadara, Embakasi West, Eastleigh, Ruaraka, Lang’ata, Westlands with 1 case each. Mombasa has 9 cases-Mvita 5, Changamwe 1, Jomvu 1, Likoni 1, Nyali 1. Kwale County has 1 case at Lunga Lunga, Nakuru County with 1 case at Nakuru West, Taita Taveta County with 1 case at a quarantine facility.
On the partial lockdown in some parts of the country, CAS Aman said the measures will no longer be necessary if Kenyans adhere to he laid down directives in order to reduce the rates of infections. He urged Kenyans to turn out for targeted mass testing, affirming that the government will cater for quarantine and treatment costs for all those who are positive and their contacts.
