The Health Ministry has confirmed 144 new Coronavirus cases from a sample size of 4,260 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 34, 201 the number of positive cases in Kenya. The total cumulative tests conducted in the country stands at 454,406 according to a statement by the Ministry of Health. Of these cases, 133 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners. 88 are males and 56 females, while the youngest is a 7-year old child and the oldest is 84-years old.
The distribution of the cases by Counties is a s follows; Nairobi has 77, Mombasa has 18, Kiambu has 9, Kisumu has 6, Kajiado has 6, Machakos has 5, Narok has 5, Turkana has 5, Nakuru has 4, Nandi has 2, Laikipia, Meru, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Isiolo, Kilifi and Homa Bay have 1 case each.
205 patients have recovered from the virus within the last day, 122 from the home based program and 83 from various hospitals, bringing the total recoveries to19,893. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe lauded the health workers for their selfless devotion to duty that has made the results achievable. However, 3 patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total fatalities to 577.
