The county government of Kakamega is working on measures that will enable the administration deal with any possible cases in the County. Speaking in Lugari, Governor Oparanya assured residents that his government was committed to ensuring no resident will lose his or her life to the deadly virus.
He said that Ministry of Health has set up an isolation ward at the Kakamega Referral Hospital and there were plans also to set up more similar wards at various level four hospitals within the County for the management of cases that may be reported.
“Even here at Lumakanda Hospital we will set up an isolation ward where victims can be attended to before being transferred to Kakamega,” said Oparanya.
He revealed that a number of medics from the County have undergone training on how to handle the victims and therefore there was no need to panic.
At the same time, Governor Oparanya advised residents to strictly observe health precaution guidelines to prevent the spread of the killer virus.
“We should avoid shaking of hands, gatherings, body contacts, observe high hygienic standards, minimize movements among other precautionary measures,” said Oparanya.
