Covid-19: Kenya confirms 968 new cases, 14 fatalities

968 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed by the Ministry of Health, from 6,610 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in Kenya to 77,372. The cumulative tests are now at 839,614. From the new cases, 888 are Kenyans and 80 are foreigners.

In terms of gender. 584 are males while 384 are females, the youngest is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 91 years old. 155 patients have recovered from the disease, with 110 from the home based care program and 45 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 51, 507.

14 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,380.

On admissions, there are 1,131 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,023 are on home based isolation and care. 63 patients are in ICU, 36 of whom are on ventilatory support and 26 on supplemental oxygen. Another 76 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 74 are in the general wards and two are in HDU.

Distribution of cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 421, Mombasa 91, Kilifi 88, Busia 73, Kiambu 54, Kajiado 30, Nakuru 22, Uasin Gishu 21, Machakos 17, Murang’a 16, Nyeri 16, Bungoma 14, Kirinyaga 13, Makueni 11, Kisumu 11, Turkana 11, Tharaka Nithi 11, Meru 11. Marsabit 8, Laikipia and Narok have 4 cases each, Kisii, Homa Bay, Elgeyo Marakwet and Mandera have 3 cases each, Nandi and Kwale have 2 cases each, Kericho, Garissa, Wajir, Nyandarua and Trans Nzoia have 1 case each.
