Kenya has recorded 178 Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours after 3,918 samples were tested as the case load hits 5,384. All cases apart from 3 are Kenyans. 2 patients have succumbed to the virus while 34 patients have recovered and have been discharged. The number of fatalities has increased to 132.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said Nairobi County leads in new cases, with a distant 100. Kajiado County follows with 21 cases. Migori has 17 cases, Kiambu County has 16 cases, Busia County has 8 cases, Mombasa has 7, Machakos has 4, Nakuru has 2 cases, while Uasin Gishu, Taita Taveta and Kericho have 1 case each.
On his part, ICT CS Joe Mucheru revealed that the Ministry of ICT, innovation and youth affairs have partnered with health care workers to ensure they are provided with technology and facilities needed to make it easy for them to continue giving their services. He acknowledged that health care workers experience a lot and deal on the frontline where they see lots of things that other Kenyans don’t and that a contact centre has been put up for them, “That’s why we’ve been able to partner, to create a contact centre where someone can call from their job and be able to talk to someone who is experienced…” he said.
