213 new Coronavirus cases have been recorded throughout Kenya in the last 24 hours, with cases now at 4,257. This presets the highest number of cases reported in a day, with the graph still on the way up. A record number of samples were tested, wirth 6,024 samples tested in 24 hours, with cumulative samples tested so far at 130,498. Speaking at Afya House on Thursday during the daily Covid-19 briefings, Health CAS Rashid Aman said 10 fatalities have been reported, with number of deaths now at 117. However, 106 patients have recovered and have been discharged, 1,459 the number of recoveries so far.
The CAS said Nairobi leads with new cases at 136-Dagoretti North 36, Westlands 25, Kamukunji 17, Kibra 13, Makadara 11, Starehe 8, Langata 9, Kasarani 6, Embakasi East 4, Embakasi North 3, Ruaraka 3, and Embakasi Central 1. Mombasa County has 32 cases-Mvita 20, Likoni and Kisauni 5 each. and Changamwe 2. Kajiado County has 13 cases-Kajiado Central 7, Kajiado North 5 and Kajiado West 1. Kiambu has 7 cases-Ruiru 4, Kiambu Town 2, Lari 1.
Busia County has 5 cases-Teso North 3, Teso South 2. Nakuru has 4 cases-Naivasha 2, Gilgil 1. Machakos has 4 cases-Athi River 2, Machakos Town 2. Garissa and Isiolo Counties have 3 cases each, Taita Taveta has 2 cases while Kitui, Migori, Narok, and Embu have one case each. The Health CAS noted an increase in the number of infections in Westlands, Kibra, Langata, Embakasi and Dagoretti, saying it’s a case for concern.
