Covid-19: Nandi Governor announces measures to tame spread

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has announced drastic measures to curb the possible spread of the Coronavirus. Addressing the press at the County government offices, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has directed all athletic training camps to be closed and all foreign athletes coming to train in Nandi will be barred until further notice.

Governor Sang, who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot and the County Commissioner Mr. Olaka Kutswa said visits by residents to the County government offices are also suspended for the next 30 days and the public is advised to use the toll free line 1548 to access government services. 

The Governor has also ordered all matatu saccos to provide hand washing points with soap and water and ensure compliance to CDC and Ministry of Health guidelines. All open markets across Nandi are closed and operation of night clubs banned until further notice.

The Governor said the County has also set 2 isolation centers in Nandi County Hospital and the Kapsabet Referral Hospital in case cases of the Covid-19 are confirmed in the County. Moreover, the Department of transport has been directed to designate more matatu stages, pick up and drop off points and bus stops to avoid congestion and crowding.
