25 new cases of the Coronavirus have been recorded in Kenya, out of 1,139 samples tested in 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 912. 23 of them are Kenyans while 2 are Somali nationals. 22 patients have also recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
The new cases are spread out in Kajiado with 6, all truck drivers at Namanga, Mombasa with 5(Likoni 4 and Nyali 1), Nairobi with 3(1 each from Githurai 44, Kawangware, Starehe), Kiambu with 3(2 in Kiambu town and 1 in Githurai 45), Taita Taveta with 2, both truck drivers tested at Voi, Garissa County with 2 cases both at the Daadab refugee camp and 1 from Meru County at Buuri.
Speaking to the press on Monday, Health CAS Rashid Aman said 53 truck drivers-51 Tanzanians and 2 from Burundi-have been referred back to Tanzania after they tested positive at various points of entry at the Kenya-Tanzania border. He said the testing capacity at the border points along Kenya and Tanzania will be enhanced and noted that testing at Busia is good.
