15 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus, after 978 samples were tested in 24 hours, with the number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya at 715. Health CAS Rashid Aman said the cases are spread out in Mombasa-7, Migori-3, Wajir-2, Nairobi-1, Machakos-1 and Kiambu-1. 14 are Kenyans while 1 is Rwandese.
8 more people have been discharged, with the total recoveries at 259. However, 3 people have died in Mombasa, 2 at home and 1 in the hospital. The Covid-19 fatalities so far have increased to 36. The Health CAS revealed that a high level team from the Health Ministry led by Health DG Dr Patrick Amoth had been sent to the border County of Kajiado and they will also visit Namanga to check measures put in place to tackle the spread of the coronavirus. He added that security at Kenya’s border points will be upscaled, given that some people are taking advantage of the porous borders to cross between countries.
Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has donated 300,000 pairs of protective gloves, 170,000 pairs medical shoes, 300 pieces of overall medical gowns, 1500 pairs of goggles for health workers.
