17 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus, with the total number of cases now at 320. This is after 668 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 12 of the cases are from Mombasa while 5 are from Nairobi. 9 are males and 8 are female, all aged between 22 years and 60 years.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said the fact that 15 cases were picked by surveillance teams means they were living in the community, “It means these people were living within our communities. Fellow Kenyans evidence that is coming in from our testing shows that indeed local transmission has been established and therefore the measures we keep reiterating on need to be followed,” she said.
She also noted that Kenyans have become reliant on sanitizers more than using soap and water, “Soap and running water is the best for fighting this disease.”
