The Covid-19 positivity rate has risen to 6.4, the highest since the month of January. This occurs barely a month after the Ministry of health had announced that the country had flattened the curve but went ahead to warn Kenyans to still take precautions since the menace is far away from being over. On Monday morning, the country reported 125 more positive cases from a sample of 1,953,
“When you look at our positivity rate since the beginning of the year since January the highest positivity rate has been 6.8 per cent which was on January 7 and the lowest was 2.1 per cent. Strictly speaking you could say that we have flattened the curve but flattening the curve is an event so it is not very important because for sure we still have these surges and spikes going on until everybody is vaccinated and everybody is offered protection,” Ag Health DG Patrick Amoth said.
The Ministry of Health hence went ahead and urged Kenyans to stick to the regulations that the ministry put in place in order to curb the menace since the rate of infections are still being reported day in day out. By Monday the country was reporting a total of 384 patients that are admitted in various hospitals countrywide.
“There are 384 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 1,333 are on home based isolation and care. Thirty-nine patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 15 of whom are on ventilator support and 20 on supplemental oxygen,” Cs Kagwe said on Monday when he was giving Covid-19 updates.
