He has also announced the cessation of movement into and out of designated Counties-Nairobi,Mombasa,Kilifi and Kwale-is extended for a further 21 days.
To ensure porous borders and security threats do not compromise the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, he has noted that security services will upgrade their alert and response measures in every border area. However, he said that escalating or de-escalating of current measures will depend on the progress to tame the virus, “We shall escalate or deescalate on the basis of how vulnerable we are to large scale infections.” He added that authorities have reported an increase in cases in the Counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Mandera, “If this worrying trend does not reverse, more stringent measures will be taken in consultation with respective County governments,” he said.
