Coronavirus patients in Kenya are still 30 in number, with no new cases recorded. One patient died on Thursday, bringing the initial number of 31 patients to 30, and one patient has recovered. Speaking to the press on Friday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said two patients are in the Aga Khan ICU.
According to the Health CS, Nairobi still leads in cases, with 21 cases, with other cases distributed in Kilifi with 6 cases, Kajiado, Mombasa and Kwale. He has urged Kenyans to maintain social distancing and keep calm as efforts to tame the spread of the virus roll on.
Speaking at the press address, Police IG Hillary Mutyambai urged Kenyans to observe the curfew directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta. He said Kenyans should be at home by 7 pm and that Kenyans who work in night shifts should be at their workplaces and leave after 5 am in the morning.
Health CS Kagwe said the curfew is meant to curtail social interactions and increase social distancing. He said many flout the social distancing rules at night, including those in the public transport sector.
