Transport CS James Macharia has said the government will cater for the welfare of families and friends of victims who lost their lives in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash in Ethiopia, which was heading to Nairobi yesterday, killing all 157 people on board, 149 passengers and 8 crew. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 accident prompted China’s civil aviation authority to temporarily ground all their Boeing MAX 8 planes.
Speaking at JKIA, CS Macharia said they’ve put together a team of professionals to do counselling and offer support. He added that Kenya is playing an active part because we have the highest number of casualties, 32 in number and the pane was also destined for Nairobi, “We shall also be participating in investigations,” he said. He said they’ll be sending the director of air accidents investigations to make sure they provide as much support as possible. At the moment, the team put together by the government has managed to reach out and talk to 25 families out of the 32 affected.
