education CS Prof. George Magoha has revealed that parents are still trying to facilitate exam cheating, despite stern warning from the government over the same. Speaking in Kisumu while presiding over the distribution of KCSE exam papers, CS Magoha said KCSE candidates shouldn’t be tricked or cheated by their parents. “Parents have still gone ahead and collected massive sums of money…..they have identified supervisors who they are going to pay Kshs 120,000 and they will pay invigilators some Kshs 60,000 and the security men Kshs 40,000.”
He warned candidates not to be led astray by the exam cheating schemes, saying any candidate caught will not get his or her results. Specifically, the Education CS earmarked Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii Counties as the areas under watch in the exam cheating circle. The KCSE exams have kicked off countrywide, days after the conclusion of the KCPE exams. A total of 699,745 candidates are sitting for the exams in over 10,000 exam centres across the country. 93,236 candidates are doing the exam in Western region.
