The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned four Cabinet Secretaries over an alleged plan to eliminate Deputy President William Ruto and stop his 2022 presidential bid. The four CSs-Transport CS James Macharia, Trade CS Peter Munya, Health CS Sicily Kariuki and ICT CS James Mucheru-have been accused of coming up with the scheme in meetings they hold, that bring together other top government officials.
Speaking outside the DCI offices on Monday morning, Trade CS Munya confirmed that indeed the meetings do take place and will continue taking place, but they are convened to discuss matters development with another one planned for Tuesday to discuss development and issues affecting the Mt. Kenya region. He confirmed that the Deputy President called the DCI to complain that senior government officers have been meeting to hatch a plan of killing him, “He gave us a specific date of 14th May,” he said, adding the location was La Mada.
He denied the allegations and termed them as very serious, especially coming from the DP’s office, “I would expect somebody in that office to do proper investigations before making unsubstantiated and wild allegations of that nature,” said Munya, “I think it is irresponsible, unfair and it is intended to portray us in a very bad light.” He said the summoned leaders are waiting for the DCI to conclude investigations.
However, he noted that they’ll continue working with the DP and anyone else in government, “We don’t have any problems or any issues with our work with the Deputy President.
