Efforts by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders in Kakamega County to bar Democratic Action Party- Kenya (DAP-K) from fielding aspirants on various elective seats in the County seems to have flopped following the clearance of some of the aspirants by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ahead of the August 9th polls.
The latest to be cleared is Lugari parliamentary aspirant on a DAP-K ticket Isaac Andabwa who has been given the green light by the electoral body to proceed with his campaigns despite the recent pressure from top ODM officials in the County to have him step down in support of their candidate.
The officials have been fighting hard to have the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance fielding one candidate for each elective seat with the ODM party being favored to dominate the County.

With the clearance of DAP -K, UDP and other Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance affiliate parties candidates in Kakamega County, it’s a wake-up call to the ODM officials to go back to the drawing board and lay strategies that will enable them compete with their opponents in the other camps as well as their affiliates in the Azimio camp to win Gubernatorial, Senatorial, Woman representative, Parliamentary and Member of County Assembly seats in the County.

Addressing residents in Lumakanda after being cleared Andabwa said all 26 political parties in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance should be given equal opportunities to field candidates in all elective seats apart from the Presidency.
“We all support Raila Amollo Odinga as our Presidential candidate but that doesn’t mean Azimio La Umoja is all about ODM, other political parties must be given the respect they deserve,” said Andabwa.
