The deputy county commissioner Navakholo sub-county Geofry Tanui has urged parents to safeguard their children during this school holiday following the increase in the number of teenage pregnancy cases in the area.
Tanui who was addressing parents from the north Butsotso division in Navakholo district says the number of pregnancy cases among the school-going girls is alarming and there is a need for cumulative efforts from both parents, teachers, and the administration to work hand in hand to curb this trend.
“The number of teenage pregnant girls in this area is 77 which is a big one and as the government, we have decided to follow up this issue and as we speak a team from the DCI will be on the ground to investigate the matter so as to bring the perpetrators into a book,” Mr. Tanui.
The administrator has urged parents together with the victims to work together with the DCI officers in identifying the offenders in an effort to find justice for the young girls.
“Therefore am urging parents to cooperate with our officers when they come to your homes to identify men who are taking advantage of young girls and in the end tamper with their future an offense that will not be entertained.”
The rest of the classes except for the candidates have begun their seven-week holiday of which parents have been called upon to take full responsibility of their children while they are at home.
