A landmark deal was signed on Tuesday to move Nairobi County services to the national government. The move was expected by some given the lows experienced by the County and to some extent the current situation brought about by Governor Mike Sonko’s brush with the law.
The deal was signed by Governor Sonko and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa at State House , with President Uhuru Kenyatta witnessing the whole process. Also present were Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Attorney General Paul Kihara.
The services include County health services, County transport services, County public works, utilities, ancillary services and County government planning and development. “Move came as a breakthrough in the running of County services that had ground to a halt,” read a statement from State House.
