After a tough battle against cancer, West FM journalist Dennis Musundi Omondi passed away on Friday evening at Kenyatta National Hospital. Commonly known as Denno or Omosh among contemporaries, he had established himself as a renowned journalist and had been an inspiration to many.
After experiencing signs of weakness, dizziness after the Christmas holidays in 2017, he was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and was admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital. The doctor had told him he had an abnormal production of white and red blood cells. After being admitted at KNH, he was first referred to South Africa, where the costs would’ve been approximately Kshs 12 million, but after further consultations, he was flown to India, where he underwent further treatment at Apollo Hospital with the costs slated at approximately Kshs 7.5 million.
However, he never had the required bone marrow transplant and was readmitted at KNH after spending four months in India. He is survived by a young widow and two children. His body was taken to KNH facility mortuary. His dedication and wide appeal in the media industry will remain in the minds of many.
