Deputy President William Ruto has reiterated the government’s commitment to development in various sectors. While addressing residents at the Webuye Muliro gardens as he visited Webuye, Deputy President Ruto said the government has already catered for exam fees for both primary and secondary school students. He affirmed Jubilee’s commitment to ensuring form next year, secondary school students will get free education. Concerning the same issue, the Deputy President faulted the NASA leaders for copying Jubilee’s blueprint, “They have no creativity, they take our ideas and bring them out as theirs,” he said, “When we said we will offer free secondary education, they went round with the same message.”
He said that from next year, pregnant mothers will receive the National Hospital Insurance Fund, catered for by the government for a year, “From next year January, all mothers who deliver will be enrolled by NHIF to assist them,” he said, adding that it will help to reduce infant death rates.
He added that the government will reduce the price of maize seeds and fertilizer to boost farmers’ produce and ensure the country doesn’t experience food shortage. However, Deputy President Ruto again faulted the opposition leaders for castigating the projects launched by the government, “When we revived Panpaper here in Webuye, tey complained, when we brought maize to help Kenyans, they still complained bitterly, when we constructed the Standard Gauge Railway, the reaction was the same,” said DP Ruto, adding that some of them were in the previous governments but they neither supported residents nor revive Rai Paper mills.
On his part, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka time has come for the Luhya community to support the Jubilee government, given their development track record in the region, especially in Bungoma County. He urged County residents to refrain from divisive politics and preach peace.
The Deputy President was accompanied by other Jubilee leaders from the region, including Sirisia MP John Waluke, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka, Bungoma Woman Representative Reginalda Wanyonyi, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, Saboti MP David Lazaro among other leaders.
