Kimilili parliamentary aspirant Didmus Wekesa Barasa has asserted that he is still vying for the seat and termed the rumours that he had decide to vie for the Kibingei ward MCA seat as malicious.
In an exclusive interview, Didmus said the current leadership has not been able to fulfill the expectations of the people of Kimilili saying they are the ones who will have the final say on who will be the next MP for Kimilili and cautioned politicians against peddling propaganda against each other.
He, however, called upon the people of Kimilili to vet the candidates who will present themselves for the seat based on their ability to deliver and not on their party affiliations saying the individual’s agenda is what matters.
“The electorates should not worry when it comes to the party ticket am vying on, but what I have to deliver if they give me an opportunity to be their Member of Parliament for the next five years and the deadlines is clear,” he added.
Mr. Didmus, however, urged the residents to register in large numbers as voters to be in a position to elect a leader that will be able to deal with issues affecting them saying the exercise has been extended to Thursday so that those who haven’t registered can do so.
The seat has been able to attract more than five aspirants so far with the current Member of Parliament Suleiman Murunga who was elected on a Ford Kenya party ticket optimistic that he will retain his seat claiming he has delivered.
Murunga, a first time MP in parliament, however, has been on the receiving end by other aspirants of the seat who have lashed at him for not being active in parliamentary debates yet it is the only platform that the issues affecting the people of Kimilili can be raised.
