Donors urged to help boost girls’ education
Well-wishers and willing donors have been called upon to help raise funds to build more classrooms and a dormitory at Friends Naitiri girls’ high school in Tongaren Sub County to cater for the increasing population in the school.
In an exclusive interview during a fundraising at the school the principal Mrs Rose Soita said they have a population of four hundred girls in boarding school yet the dormitory has a capacity of two hundred only, forcing the rest of the students to sleep in the school hall.
She added that the school does not have enough classrooms saying they have been forced to use incomplete classrooms due to the high demand of girl child education and they make sure the society has embraced their education.
However she thanked the CDF and the County government for they have played a major role in helping the school purchase more land.

The school can be expanded easily as more residents are willing to sell their lands to the school.
Mrs Soita who is also the chairlady of the secondary schools heads association in Tongaren sub County said the school is on an upward trend and is always performing well in both academics and co-curricular activities which are important in moulding an all-round student.
Area Member of Parliament David Eseli Simiyu expressed his commitment to continue supporting upcoming schools in the region saying they have the potential of performing well in national examinations hence transforming the society.
He said student’s need to undertake their studies under good infrastructure so as to boost their concentration in class.
He said, the education stakeholders must work hand in hand to have their students stay comfortably in schools.
The fundraising was also attended by Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa and his Likuyani counterpart Dr. Enoch Kibunguchi who applauded the education cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i for disbudding the Kenya National Examination Council board and called for further probing into the matter and take legal action against those found culpable of examination irregularities.
Bungoma senator Moses Masika Wetangula urged the girls in the school to work hard in their studies so as to compete favourably with the boys, adding that the girls have the potential to score high grades in their national examination results.
