The National Assembly has officially confirmed the appointment of Douglas Kanja as the new Inspector General of the National Police Service. This decision comes after thorough discussions regarding the joint committee report from the Senate and National Assembly, which endorsed Kanja’s nomination after a comprehensive vetting process.
Members of the National Assembly highlighted Kanja’s 39 years of service in the National Police Service, praising his extensive experience and qualifications for leading the police force in the country.
It is noteworthy that President William Ruto appointed Douglas Kanja to this position on July 25, 2024. The joint committee of the National Assembly and Senate conducted an in-depth assessment and subsequently released a report approving his appointment.
Following this parliamentary endorsement, Kanja is set to be sworn in as the Inspector General of Police, a position that became vacant after the resignation of Japheth Koome on July 12, 2024.
