Deputy President William Ruto has encouraged anti-graft investigative bodies, saying they have the full support of the nation in their quest to bring corruption culprits to book. Speaking during the national prayer breakfast at Safari Park that brought together many leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta and South Sudan President Salva Kiir, DP Ruto said the thief may be intelligent but he can’t be more intelligent than the investigator. “Theft and corruption is bad in any language,” he said.
He said it is long held the job the investigative agencies do is impossible, “We have said as a nation you have our support as you help us deal with the challenges that we have.” On the same note, he quoted Bible commandments that say one shouldn’t steal or bear false testimony, “The President and I were once victims of schemes and machinations and false testimony. It took the hand of God and prayer for us to get out and we don’t want any Kenyan to suffer such again.”
On his tradition of giving in churches, the Deputy President said some people have more reasons to thank God than others due to the past life they’ve been through. “When you see some of us go to church and pray and lift up our hands, sometimes shed tears make this or that contribution, it’s because we can’t forget where God brought us from,” he said.
