A section of leaders from Nandi County failed to attend Deputy President William Ruto’s second visit to the County in the space of a few days, drawing disappointment from some residents. The deputy President commissioned several projects, including a maternity wing, radiology unit and trauma center at Nandi Hills Hospital.
On the issue of the constitutional reforms, he said Kenyans should ensure that whatever is presented in any given forum should be a national conversation by Kenyans in a way that doesn’t create winners or losers because what is targeted is a win-win arrangement for all Kenyans, “Kenyans musts peak to each other without necessarily creating camps…we’ve been there before and it’s a lose lose arrangement.” He faulted leaders who intend to divide Kenyans in factions, “There is no room for such people and debate in the Kenya of the 21st century.”
Some of the legislators who weren’t present included woman representative Tecla Tum, Nandi County Assembly speaker Joshua Kiptoo and Chesumei, Emgwen, Mosop, Tindiret and Nandi hills MPs. Leaders who accompanied the DP to to commission more projects in Emgwen, Nandi hills and Aldai sub counties included MPs Didmus Barasa of Kimilili and Caleb Kositany of Soy.
