Deputy President William Ruto has reiterated that residents of Nyanza would’ve still voted had it not been the intervention of rowdy youths. In an interview hosted by CNN, the Deputy President said NASA leaders shouldn’t use the excuse of boycotting the repeat elections. “There will be a paper tally and when we get there, the figures will speak for themselves,” he said. “It’s true that 9 percent of Kenyans were denied the opportunity because of violence sponsored by our competitor. In that region, citizens were denied a chance to vote by militia who ensured election materials never made their way to the polling stations,” said DP Ruto.
He said NASA leaders should call back the rowdy youths to determine whether residents in the Counties in the former Nyanza province wouldn’t vote, “If it’s true that the people of that region didn’t want to vote let them remove the militia, let them allow the ballot papers and ballot boxes and election officials into polling stations and let’s see whether Kenaysn will vote or not,” said Deputy President Ruto.
