Deputy president William Ruto has assured leaders from western Kenya that the government is ready to work with them to bring development in the area, calling upon them to prop up the government.
The DP who was speaking at a funds drive at Sipala High school in Webuye East constituency said that the government will start a bull station in the Western counties to enhance the best breed in dairy animals saying Bungoma County will benefit from getting 30 milk cooling machines.
He also said that he will ensure Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties develop urging leaders from the counties to unite and work with the government to enhance development like other counties.
“I want you people from Western to use me as a neighbor so that we foster development, don’t go too far, why go to Kisumu and I am just a neighbor here and in government now, although as a government we are working for every person in this country,” he said.
The deputy president asked the CORD leaders to stop blaming other leaders who have decided to work with the government especially from Western region saying it is their right to work for the people who elected them.”
“Why is it that when leaders like your governor Ken Lusaka works with us the CORD leaders say they have been bought? Let me ask you a question when leaders like Wetangula decides to work under their leader Raila how much have they been given?” he stated.
He said the fight in the coming election will be between Jubilee and CORD saying, this time round Jubilee will have a landslide win.
“There is no need to cheat ourselves, even if you don’t know how to calculate, the other election we had not done all we have done now, we had not constructed railway line, rural electrification, among others how will the opposition win? If they continue with the demonstrations instead of giving agendas they will see us get 70+I % not 50 plus 1%” said Ruto.
He added that the government is working with all stakeholders to ensure that taxes are eliminated in sugarcane and coffee so that farmers can make better returns in their farming.
He also said Mumias is now doing well saying the government will ensure the giant sugar factories don’t collapse so that the economy of North-rift can uplifted.
The DP said the government has so far initiated so many projects in the country challenging the opposition to use development as the agenda for re-election in the next general election instead of them (CORD) using unnecessary demands like disbanding the electoral commission.
“Let CORD show us what they have done for the Kenyans so far, the government has started so many projects others are complete others ongoing and others are yet to start, what can CORD show Kenyans? Let the leaders stop those divisive politics and come we talk on how to better the people of this nation” he said.
The DP promised to be back with the president to see how the collapsed giant paper factory PanPaper was reopened after the investor moved on site.
“We will come to check on the progress of Panpaper factory, we want to ensure it is working so that the unemployed youths from around here can benefit, I am sure you are all aware that the roads are being constructed, Musikoma-Mungatsi road the contractor has started working on it,” posed the DP.
He said the government will pump in Ksh. 500 million asking governor Lusaka to also add Ksh. 500 million for tarmacking Misikhu-Brigidier-Matunda road to enhance transport and business in the region.
On issues health the Dp said the government will give Misikhu hospital Ksh. 20 million to improve the facility’s’ infrastructure, “we have talked with the governor he will be giving the hospital Ksh. 5 million as a start then the government will also give in to see that the people from the region receive better services,” he said.
CS water and irrigation Eugene Wamalwa said the contractor for Chesikaki water project will be moving in next month to start the work that will cost over Ksh. 600 million urging the people from the western region to support the government of the day.
“I met the ambassador for Korea last week and he assured me the contractor will be here next week, that is the development we need in our region, and that is why I normally insist that we support the government,” said Eugene.
He called on opposition leaders to bring Kenyans together saying this is the year of jubilee and that the demonstrations and looting innocent people will not help this country grow.
Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka asked the people of Bungoma County to support the government saying more are yet to be done.
