Deputy President William Ruto has pledged to work with Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangmati to advance the development agenda in Bungoma County. Speaking in Cheptais in Mt Elgon during his visit on Sunday, DP Ruto lauded Bungoma County residents for exercising their democratic right and voting for leaders of their choice, “Apart from the leaders you chose in Jubilee, you decided to also elect leaders from other parties including your Governor here,” he said, “We want to assure you that we will work together with your Governor, together with all your elected leaders.”
The DP said no leader is elected by bad luck but the will of God and the people, “Wangamati, be assured that we who are running the national government will work with you and your County government for the benefit of the people of this County,” he said.
Concerning infrastructural development, the DP said the work which the national government started five years ago will be accomplished, “We’ll ensure every pledge we gave to the residents of Bungoma County is fulfilled,” he said. He outlined that the road from Kapsokwony to Cheptais, Kopsiror to Chebkube, covering a span of about fifty kilometres will be completed in one or two years and it will ease transportation. Leaders who were present include Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria among others.
