A driver of a Toyota wish KCE 019E is being held at Bungoma police station after he was found in possession of counterfeit cigarettes worth 2 million shillings on transit to Uganda.
Confirming the incident, Bungoma deputy OCPD Patrick Gogo said that the driver was stopped at Ndengelwa police road block but he ignored and tried to escape but fortunately the officers were alert and fired at the rear tyres of the vehicle and managed to arrest the driver.
“The driver is called Joseph Karanja and is 32 years old and his case is currently being handled by the criminal investigation department and will be arraigned in court as soon as possible” he said
Gogo cautioned the residents against involving themselves in illegal businesses saying at the various police roadblocks especially on the main highway they will continue with their various checks.
