Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has apologized to parents on behalf of the Government for issuing an abrupt directive to closure of schools within the shortest time possible, saying it was meant to give the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ample time to prepare the elections which are just around the corner.

Magoha cited that IEBC must be given whatever they want in order to be able to carry out free, fair and justifiable elections thus as government had to immediately give the directive of the closure of schools for preparations.

“I take full responsibility in apologizing to parents on behalf of the government for the short notice of closure of schools which caught many parents unawares, and I hope they will forgive me.” Magoha pleaded.

The Education CS was speaking in Nandi during the official commissioning of Eliud Kipchoge Library in Kapsisiywo area which was built at a cost of shs85 m inclusive of the road works and the fence.

Magoha cited that the remaining shs15 m will be used in extension of the fence and construction of ten classrooms respectively lauding the President’s effort for such a facility which will serve the community.
