Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha should put much emphasis on how form one selection into respective secondary schools is done as students should also be given a chance to enroll into schools of their choice and those that performed extremely well should be given chances to join National schools in the country without discrimination.
This was said by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala during Cross Fire Show on West FM where he stated that the government should implement second selection for students to revise their first selection of high schools.
He pointed out the high cases of exam cheating during KCSE this year and blamed it on social pressure of performance.
“Matiang’i did an excellent job in curbing exam irregularities but what Magoha is doing is pressuring everyone. He doesn’t embrace teamwork and rules the education sector with a lot of dictatorship,” said Malala.
He expressed his disappointment on how the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) was launched in the country without prior preparations and proper feasibility study. This is because he insists the government should have done bench-marking and thorough research before incorporating the expensive curriculum.
“CBC is not sustainable, it’s pretty expensive. They keep sending pupils to do assignments with parents who are often busy trying get ends meet.” He expressed
Malala said that the Kenya Kwanza government would scrap out CBC if all stake holders will not approve it and that they would only retain it if everyone supports it.
He mentioned that he has put in a lot of effort in reviving the Mumias Sugar Company. He did this through the parliament when the company was being leased for 2 billion shillings which was below the company’s worth. After Malala’s aggressive move, the senate put the company back on auction and was leased for 12.5 billion.
When asked on his view of the handshake government, he said that the government has sidelined Western. He mentioned that ever since the hand shake most development projects have been done in Nyanza and Central.
He also expressed his dissatisfaction on the fact that there are no Cabinet Secretaries from Western during Uhuru’s regime. “I am very disappointed because there are no Cabinet Secretaries from Western in Uhuru’s government. I am willing to sacrifice my votes so that Luhyas can be redeemed,” said Malala.
Malala promised that Luhyas are going to make about 30% of the government under Kenya Kwanza according to the coalition agreement that they have negotiated for. The final negotiation with Kenya Kwanza will be issued on 9th April 2022.
He urged Lluhyas to be sober and vigilant and follow their leaders like Mudavadi and Wetangula into Kenya Kwanza and not to follow Raila who doesn’t have any plans for them.

He promised the people of Kakamega County that upon winning the gubernatorial race he will prioritize county government staff and motivate them to serve the county better. He too said that he’ll pay lunch fees for all day scholars students in Kakamega County.
He added that he will ensure that the elderly get NHIF cards that will cater for their medical bills. All unfinished projects like the Shinyalu Tea factory, Kakamega Stadium, Level 6 Kakamega Hospital among others will be completed.
