Education CS Amina Mohamed has officially launched the process of placement of University students who did their KCSE exams last year. Speaking at Jogoo House, CS Amina said she has directed the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to open its online application system for this exercise so that they don’t lose time in the selection process. The online application system will continue until Saturday February 23rd. “I therefore invite all KCSE examination candidates who wish to revise their choices for Degree, Diploma, and Certificate courses for government sponsorship to proceed with the exercise as soon as the portal is open,” she said, adding that the aim is to ensure they realign their selection with the performance in the KCSE exam and take care of any change in their career interests.

The Education CS also urged those who didn’t complete the application process in school to use this opportunity to apply. After revision, the placement service will process the applications on merit, taking into account students’ performance in the exams, choices, available capacity and affirmative action for gender, persons with disabilities and candidates from marginalized regions. “The process will culminate in the final selection of students for admission to universities and TVET institutions which will be concluded by April 2019,” she said. The CS said that selection will only cater for the KCSE candidates while placement to TVET institutions will take care of other previous years up to the year 2000. Moreover, the Education CS said to ensure candidates join courses and institutions of their choice, a one month window will be opened in May for selected students to apply for inter-institutional transfers.
