It is now official that eight candidates will be on the ballot box in the forthcoming Kabuchai by election in Bungoma County as campaigns officially kicked off.The eight cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) are Jeremiah Marakiah (UDP), Gasper Wafubwa (Independent) Evans Kakai (UDA) Majimbo Kalasinga (Ford Kenya), David Kibiti (UGM), Peter Kapanga (independent), Wafula Lungalunga (independent) and Amos Wekesa (FPK).
IEBC constituency coordinator Benson Esuza said if all systems go as they now, they will embark on printing the polling papers and called upon the candidates to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner. The by election is slated for March 4th as the battle is set to be a very fierce one considering the fact that Ford Kenya party plans to retain the seat as other candidates plan to overturn the events.
Several candidates have vowed to make water accessible if elected saying many are traveling to far places to access the precious commodity. The issue of education as well as roads and high rate of poverty has also popped up with many candidates promising to address the situation if elected.
The constituency has four wards namely Chwele/Kabuchai, Mukuyuni, West Nalondo and Luhyia/Bwake with the former Mp the late James Lusweti having come from Chwele/Kabuchai
