Former Amagoro Member of Parliament Albert AA Ekirapa has denied mounting rumors that he wants to challenge Amos Wako for the Busia Senator seat.
Speaking during the Teso Cultural Day at Kakapel Primary School, Ekirapa, who was MP between 1997 to 2002, said going for the Senate will mean getting support from all the seven sub counties and not only the two from Teso region.
“It is good to put the record straight regarding pressure from Teso residents wanting me to state my position on the Senate seat.
What residents of Teso are not aware is that the Senate seat needs a person to be based in Nairobi to make laws and not to be based here,” he said.
Ekirapa who relayed Wako’s apologies said unity of the County was paramount. “The day I will feel Teso region is ripe for the seat I will seek the unity of other sub counties first,” he said
