Residents of Bungoma County who were affected by the 2015 El-Nino rains in Cheptais, Chesikaki and Kapkateny are a relieved lot after Bungoma County government gave them foodstuffs and blankets to help them restart their lives on a positive note.
Speaking after meeting the different groups at their destinations Bungoma County governor Ken Lusaka said the move is aimed at helping the affected people after a harrowing ordeal they went through during the rains last year.
He disclosed that the County government has also put in place other structures to help deal with the calamities in future saying as residents of Bungoma County they are entitled to good services saying it is one of the dreams of devolution.

On his part Bungoma County director of special programs Julius Bakasa called upon the County assembly to set aside funds in the disaster management kitty that will be able to cater promptly for any kinds of disasters occurring across the County.
He added that his department has been having a challenge of taking care of different disasters occurring across the County an issue that has on several occasions delayed the response of the County government to different occurrences.
Bungoma County deputy governor Hillary Moywo Chongwony called upon residents across the county to support the current leadership of the Bungoma County government saying after entrusting them with leadership they are working hard to deliver on their mandate.
He lashed at Mt Elgon MP John Serut for criticizing the Bungoma County government all the time saying he should instead work together with the County leadership to spur development in his Mount Elgon constituency.
Others present during the presentations were Bungoma County public administration CEC Mokin arap Ptanguny, County assembly deputy speaker Jane Chebet and Kapkateny Mca John Mukenda.
