Elachi resigns as Nairobi County Speaker

Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has resigned from her position as the County assembly speaker. This follows extended clashes with Nairobi MCAs, that have ended up at the Courts. Speaking on Tuesday, Elachi noted the change witnessed in the County during her term, “We have seen tremendous change but also challenges….notwithstanding, for the last few days we have seen lots of conflict and life threatening incidences.”

She has affirmed the coming in of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) will help elevate Nairobi to a better capital city. She c handed over her role to deputy speaker and Ruai MCA John Kamangu, who will also take over as the chairman of the Nairobi County Service Board.
