Leaders from Bungoma County have called on electorates to be very careful and scrutinize all politicians seeking elective posts in Bungoma before they make their choices in the 9th August polls.
Addressing residents of Mukuyuni village in Milima ward in Tongaren Constituency at the home of the area MCA Elvis Abuka Amunavi, leaders called on voters to vote out people who are not development oriented.
Amunavi said many aspirants have come to seek positions but they have very poor track records and therefore the only way to do away with them is through the ballot.
He too drummed support for Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya saying it’s the only sure bet for development and appealed to Bungoma residents and Western region as a whole to give chance to their Presidential candidate Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga so that he can move the nation to another level.
“We know Raila Odinga has not been mentioned anywhere with anything to do with corruption but what we all know is his track record of development and fighting for the second liberation of this country and if given an opportunity then Kenya is in safe hands with his running mate Martha Karua and am sure you know that devolution came because of him and therefore, we will be guaranteed more funds to Counties and that means more development,” said Amunavi.
He however, called on politicians to preach peace and sell their agenda to the people instead of using youth wrongly and using a language that would jeopardize peace before, during and after elections.
On the choice of running mate of Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Amunavi applauded the choice of MacLean Sitati Nangalama and appreciated the governor for the great gesture to the people of Tongaren adding that he has worked with Nangalama and he is a performer and the perfect match for the governor and appealed to Tongaren residents where Nangalama comes from to back the choice and support them fully saying that would make sure that they will have development that’s required.
On her part, former Bungoma County Woman Rep Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi criticized the current Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga for under-performing and living to her 2017 campaign promises adding that during her regime she did many projects among them putting up infrastructures in several schools across the County and each ward has her project and asked voters to elect leaders based on development and not political parties supremacy or on tribal line.
“Let’s be careful, when we go on the ballot box on 9th August, elect wisely because that vote will determine your future development records, when you need clean water, good schools, passable roads and so forth then you can do that through the ballot this year,” said Dr. Reginalda.
On his part the Deputy Governor nominee for Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, MacLean Sitati Nangalama accepted his nomination and promised to work with the governor to better the future of Bungoma County if Governor Wangamati will be re-elected.
