Residents of Sirisia Sub County have been urged to embrace poultry farming as the only way to cushion them from this tough economic condition that is currently experienced in the world.
Sirisia Sub-County Agricultural officer Mr. Pius Mbayi says it’s time for farmers to invest in profitable agri-business to eliminate poverty.
“I want to encourage our farmers in this region, a part from doing crop farming they should also put their focus on poultry farming, it’s more profitable and it change the lives of our people.” Said Mr. Mbayi.
He added that with the construction of Chwele chicken slaughter house, farmers will get ready market to sell their chicken.
Mr. Mbayi also encouraged farmers to try dairy farming adding that the government has invested millions in milk cooling plants in different places in the Sub County as collection centers to help them sell their produce at a good price.
“The milk plants will help small and large scale farmers to access collective ready market where they will be able to sell their produce at a better price, rather than selling at a throw away price to middle men,” he added
