The West Youth Employment Compact has been launched in the County courtesy of USAID to help youths aged between 18-35 years who didn’t complete high school to boost self employment and increased wages through skills development.
Speaking during the launch of the program at Mtello hall in Kapenguria , Chief of Party Kenya Youth Employment and skills Program Ms Joyce Wafula said the program will support a cross system collaboration of stakeholders in the public and private sector in order to align skills training and youth employment with County economic growth strategies. “The program steers the portion of the Integrated County Development Plan (ICDP) that speaks skills training and youth employment,” said Ms. Wafula.
She said the project will promote groups and business skills in partnership with Kenya Commercial Bank foundation which has funded 6 farmers’ projects at a tune of Ksh 4 million to promote livestock productions and poultry farming. “We also deal with low level funding skills by training young people on business skills and entrepreneurship,” she said.
