For the first time in Friends Secondary School Kuywa’s history, 119 students are set to be directly admitted to university, marking the largest group of university-bound students to date. This achievement highlights the hard work of both students and teachers, and the collective efforts of the community to ensure that financial constraints do not limit academic success.
At Kuywa Mixed in Sitikho ward, Webuye West Constituency education is about more than just academics—it’s about shaping the future. Despite the financial challenges many students face, the school remains committed to providing quality education to all.
This year, the school has launched a sponsorship initiative aimed at supporting bright, underprivileged students. With a goal to sponsor 80 students, the program ensures that financial hardship no longer stands in the way of education. Principal Isaac Musani shares that this initiative has had a profound impact on student success. “Thanks to the generous support of teachers and well-wishers, students are able to focus on their studies and achieve excellent results,” he says. The sponsorship program helps students stay in school and strive for greatness.
Students who have benefitted from the program share that the support has been crucial to their success. “Without the sponsorship, I wouldn’t have been able to continue my studies,” one student says. “It motivated me to work harder and aim for the best results.”
As Kuywa Mixed continues to nurture its students, the sponsorship program is expected to grow, supporting even more students in the future. With the community’s support, the school is confident that this year’s cohort of 119 students will continue to achieve great things, inspiring future generations along the way.
