Environment CS Keriako Tobiko has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for the shakeup made in the Kenya Water Towers Agency (KWTA). Speaking during the inauguration of the new board, CS Tobiko urged the team to ensure the full restoration of the Mau Forest and other water towers so as to protect and cater for the environment. He appealed to DPP Noordin Haji to take action on the people who are still in the Mau forest, “People must move out of the Mau without compensation. Our constitution does not protect illegally acquired property and no one has a right for compensation in response.”
He further asked the members of the KWTA board to focus on the realization of the Big Four Action agenda within the precincts of the Environment sector to aid the President’s vision. The team was congratulated for achieving a lot in the last three years by the chairman Julius Malombe, among the achievements, the successful resource mobilization of Kshs 669 million for the sustainable management of water towers.
