A family from Lugala village in Lurambi sub county has urged the government to intervene and help them salvage their son’s grave which may be destroyed by landslides witnessed in the region.
Speaking to the press, Clement Kwasira, the father to the deceased said that his son had bought the plot where the grave is situated. He said that after his son’s death the daughter-in-law revealed its was the deceased’s wish to be buried on the plot. However, a landslide witnessed in the area has caused damage and with a day or two of persistent rainfall, they fear the grave may be destroyed.
Residents at the area led by Alex Makanji claimed the landslide’s force has destroyed most of the land and they are now living in great fear.
Makanji said efforts to reach the MCA David Igunza and the MP Bishop Titus Khamala have been futile as they keep on making promises they can’t fulfill.
Denis Mukabwa, a local at the area blamed the County government for failing to manage the sewer system which channels its waste water to the area, making the soil prone to landslides when it rains.
