The family of the late Member of Parliament for Malava, Malulu Injendi, has outlined the funeral arrangements for their beloved patriarch, emphasizing that only President William Ruto, the church, and the family will be allowed to speak during the funeral service on March 4th. This decision was shared through Malulu’s eldest child, Melvin Malulu, during a solemn memorial service held at their home in Lugusi, which saw the presence of numerous leaders, including the President’s assistant, Farouk Kibet.
The memorial service, attended by family, friends, and close associates, took place four days after the passing of the MP. The family made it clear that the occasion would be a respectful event, steering clear of political debates and campaigns. While political leaders will have an opportunity to offer their condolences on March 3rd, one day before the funeral, the family stressed the importance of maintaining the solemnity of the funeral.
Among the leaders who gathered for the service, Farouk Kibet, along with various Members of Parliament, lauded Malulu for his vision and unwavering commitment to the development of the nation. However, they also reminded fellow politicians to adhere to the family’s wishes and refrain from using the occasion for political purposes, ensuring that the final farewell remains respectful and peaceful.
Innocent Mugabe, the MP for Likuyani, also praised Malulu’s significant contributions, particularly in advocating for the National Government Coordination Bill, which, if passed, would provide village elders with a government salary.
The funeral preparations are set in motion, with the body scheduled to be transported from Lee Funeral Home on March 1st for a service at South C Catholic Church. Following this, a second service will be held at the Malava Catholic Parish on March 2nd. The body will then be brought back to the family’s home in Lugusi for the final rites.
Betty Injendi, the widow of the late MP, has asked the Kenyan public to continue offering prayers and support to the family as they navigate this challenging period.
