The family of Rodgers Toola and Florence Akatu from Musaga of Navakholo Constituency, Kakamega county are appealing to friends and well-wishers to assist their daughter Marsha Toola raise funds to enable her access treatment.
Marsha Toola a 9 year old girl and a pupil at Fesbeth Academy in Kakamega County was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anaemia at the age of nine months.
Since then she has been battling with frequent crisis attacks which are very painful, acute chest syndrome and cerebrovascular occlusion forcing her to spent most of the time in hospital.
She has been transfused multiple times (more than ten times) especially during crises and she is on regular blood transfusion program as a result of stroke.

Last year (2015) Marsha suffered severe stroke which paralyzed the right hand side of her body forcing her to drop out school in order to attend physiotherapy exercises and medication.
She is on regular medications for malaria prophylaxis, hydroxyurea, folate, pen V and analgesics due to pain.
She has received pneumococcal vaccine, meningococcal vaccine and salmonella vaccine.
Despite the above treatments given, none of them can offer permanent solution to her condition.
They just reduce risk of complications.
The only available treatment for the illness is a Bone Marrow Transplant that will provide a lasting solution to Marsha’s health condition.
The above procedure is not available in Kenya and can only be conducted overseas.
The cost of this procedure is $40,000 translating to Ksh. 4,240,000.
The family therefore seeks for well-wishers to help contribute the amount to enable the girl receive the required medication.
