A family in Khamoto village Maraka ward in Webuye East sub county is mourning the loss of their late son who committed suicide and the subsequent mysterious disappearance of the late’s uncle. The young man, Fred Maruti, was a student at Kibabii University and it’s alleged he drunk poison two days after Christmas day. His father, Joseph Musavasi said the son had finished his 3-year education course and was set to undertake his attachment at Milo Secondary School before his untimely death. It’s reported that he had sent messages to few family members and friends, showing suicidal tendencies, telling them that he felt pushed to go and be with his late brother who had died a year ago in a road accident, “We expect our children to bury us instead we are burying them,” he lamented.
The late’s mother Irene Musavasi narrated how she had spent the December holidays with the son, noting that accompanied by his friend, they ate lunch and strolled around the village, greeting friends and the next day he left for school. Things turned critical after the father received a call from school, and he was informed his son was in a critical condition and was admitted in the school clinic, and he died moments later after arrival. To add insult to injury, an uncle who heard the news was overcome by grief and disappeared mysteriously, and is nowhere to be seen. The family is now appealing to well wishers to provide help in their tragic situation.
